Dr. Narayan Sundaresan has dedicated his life to the study and treatment of brain, spine, neuro-oncology, and spinal surgical procedures. He has treated over 1,000 tumor cases and performed more than 100 cervical and lumbar fusion surgeries annually. He serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at H+H South Brooklyn Health, Senior Attending Neurosurgeon at Northwell—Lenox Hill, and guest lecturer at Columbia University Medical School.

Dr. Sundaresan completed his Neurosurgery residency at Northwestern University and fellowship in neuro-oncology, brain, and spine surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is a Colombo Plan Medical School Scholar and has received the Northwestern University Sherry Kalick Award for Neurosurgery and the Elliot Clarke Award for Clinical Research. His 46 years of experience in clinical research and surgery have established him as a distinguished figure in his field.

Above and Beyond the Standard of Neurosurgical Care

Staying at the forefront of his profession, Dr. Sundaresan has pioneered treatments for stroke and intracerebral hemorrhages, performing the first minimally invasive surgery for intracerebral hemorrhage in the NYC Hospital system. He also leads the cerebrovascular disease treatment program at H+H South Brooklyn Health.

Dr. Sundaresan is a leader in non-fusion surgeries for degenerative disc disease, employing minimally invasive techniques, endoscopic approaches, the Nico BrainPath retraction system, and the Omniguide Laser system for tumor extraction. Although he follows a conservative approach to spine surgery, when surgery is necessary, he and his experienced team take measures to minimize complications and morbidity. He emphasizes patient-centered care, spending over an hour on initial consultations and ensuring comprehensive evaluations.
